Mission Update - October 2011

Our dear prayer partners, friends and relatives,

Thank you so much for your prayers, concern and generous contributions for our specialized ministry. We deeply appreciate it.

Here is brief report of our work done during past days. (With Photographs)

  • Siloam Concern:

Blind students: Hephsie and I visited blind students. They were glad to meet us. It is amazing to see how they progress! We met Chirag, Rajesh Sonar, Harshad, Ashok, Lalo, Rishit, Kirtan and several new blind students. There were several deaf and dumb students. They also wanted us to meet them. We showed love to them. Next time we will take small pictorial Bible stories for them.

Mr. Labhubhai Sonani, Secretary of All India Blind Sangh from Bhavnagar was on Hunger Strike for rights of blind people for five days at Ahmedabad. We met him and assured him our support for blind people’s right.

We have contacted several deaf and dumb students at Nadiad. We will give them special Tract on Deepavali Festival.

Blind people: We met Maniben at one village nearby Ahmedabad. She is orphan and illiterate. We know him since many years and we have visited her several times. We wanted her to go to Home for blind ladies at Ranip. But she didn’t go. She was glad to meet us.

We had good fellowship with Mr. Samuel and Ushaben Christian and their family. They were encouraged in the Lord.

We met Hirabhai, an elderly man at Pithai near Kathlal who lost his sight a year ago. We talked to him. His only son supports him.

Discipleship Training: We plan for 2 days Discipleship Training for new blind believers.

Golden Age blind people: We have noticed in past years that blind people of Golden Age live in pathetical condition. There is one Home for these people at Bhachav (Kutch) and another one is at Junagadh (both non-Christian). But none is in Central or South Gujarat. If we get good regular support, we are praying to start one at Nadiad.

There are estimate 15 old blind people in Saibaba nagar, Nadiad. We met some of them. Most of them live on charity. We will plan special Good News meeting to them in coming days.

  • Dorkas Tailoring Class:

About 18 girls are learning tailoring. They all are of other faith. Everyday Teacher explains the Word of God and they learn a Bible verse. Recently Bro.P.Christopher conducted half day retreat. We need to continue to pray that these girls may receive Jesus as their Personal Savior. There are some Tamil new believer families. Every Sunday they meet for worship.

  • Christian Tribal Students:

We try to visit them often. Wardens also keep us informed. By the grace of God two new girls have adjusted themselves. They like spiritual atmosphere of Christian Hostel. All girls except 1 enjoy good health.

Four girls are preparing for Board Exam of std. X while two are in std. XII. All together there are 14 girls we support at Webb Memorial girls high school at Baroda.

There are seven boys at Hill Memorial Methodist high school at Baroda. And only 3 are at Methodist Village Centre, Kathlal. It is up to Std. IV.

On October 13, I went Kathlal to pay fees for students we support. Then I went nearby village to meet father of a girl whom we support partially. Mr. Talsi Parmar was in field. Her father let her visit me for some time. Amruta was in school writing her Terminal exam. We waited for 2 hours to meet her. We encouraged her to study hard. Talsi is widower and is very poor. His another daughter is married in another village.

  •  Magazine:

We continue to publish bimonthly magazine for Christian workers and pastors. It contains simple Bible studies.

  •  Rag pickers:

There are two large settlements of them on Manjipura Road, Nadiad. One is Saibaba nagar and other one is Jawahar nagar. Later one is large one with more than 500 families. We visited Saibaba nagar colony. Most of them have migrated from Uttar Pradesh some 25 years ago. They collect paper, plastic, glass and tin waste from city. Most of the families have 5-7 kids. Half of their Hut is occupied with waste. Only tiny percentage of children goes to school.

We met chief of the colony, Mr.Shivbalak. He was more than glad when we informed him about our desire to teach these children. He assured us to give us full support and co-operation. There are estimated 500 children under seven years! A big challenge!

Do you think we will be able to do something?

We need at least Rs.25, 000/- per month. Please pray that may the Lord open windows of heaven to provide our needs.

We appreciate your continual prayers, interest and contributions.

May the Lord be with you all.

 Lovingly,

 Shantijai & Hephsie Khristmukti
